The Referee Development and Certification Committee is responsible for recruiting, educating, and supporting referees and assists in the development of certified regional, National, and International referees.

About the Referee Development & Certification Committee


The REFEREE DEVELOPMENT AND CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE shall be responsible for the recruiting, educating, and supporting referees and assisting in the development of certified regional, National, and International referees.

The Committee will assist in scheduling and conducting clinics, programs, training course, and/or seminars/workshops to educate and disseminate information regarding International Judo Federation (IJF) rule interpretations and educational documents.

Also, the Committee shall provide such assistance and guidance to its members in the formation and development of a Yudanshakai Referee Development Program.


The Referee Development and Certification Committee shall consist of not less than (3) members, and appointment on the Committee is intended to demonstrate a fair representation across the continental United States.


Under the guidance from the Referee Development and Certification Committee, the Committee shall establish general guidance and criteria for Yudanshakais for creating and supporting local Referee Development Programs.

Questions regarding judo rules and/or situations may be directed either to the Yudanshakai Referee Chair or to the JF Referee Committee.
