Passing of Ken Tamai
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Ken Tamai.? Ken passed away a approximately 9 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time this morning June 30, 2004, in Honolulu, Hawaii.??Interment will be in Honolulu, Hawaii at the convenience of the family.??Ken was a member of the Shufu Yudanshakai Board of Examiners and served as Shufu Registration Chairman for almost 20 years.? He was the founder and Sensei of the Hui-O Judo Club in Beltsville, Maryland and ran a strong junior program.? Besides the countless number of tournaments that Ken directed, he also worked the pairings table a two Olympic Games?and several US National Championships.? He was a National Referee and had attained the rank of Rokudan.? Shufu Yudanshakai has lost one of its most active members.
