Tatsuo "Kay" Yonetani passed away on October 19, 2003 in Ogden, Utah. Born in Christopher,
Washington on January 7, 1917 to Tatsujiro and Iwa Yonetani. He was raised in Shiga-ken, Japan and
later returned to Auburn, Washington. He attended and graduated from mechanic’s trade school in
Kansas City. In 1942, he and his family were relocated in the Tule Lake Internment camp. He married
Yukimi Tsuchida on March 20, 1943, and in the same year, Yukimi and Tatuso moved to Ogden, Utah. In
1947 he was a partner in R K Motor Service, He was later employed at Weber State College from where
he retired. After his retirement he continued to be active in gardening in the Ogden area.
He was instrumental in starting the Ogden Judo Dojo (July 1956) and eventually attained the rank of 6th
degree black belt. He volunteered his services as an instructor and was an influential force in the
development of many Ogden area youth until 1975. Under his guidance, the Ogden Judo Dojo flourished
with many individual and team championships.
He is survived by his wife of 60- years, Yukimi; and children; Bessie Oakes (Sandy, UT); Glen and wife
Nanette (St. Louis, MO); Nina (Salt Lake City, UT); Dale (Ogden), Mable and husband William Case (Salt
Lake City, UT); Dennis (Ogden, UT) and three grandchildren; Jessica, Lindsay, Conner. Also survived by
brother Kaoru (Japan); and sister Yoshiko (Japan). Preceded in death by his brother, Kizo (Chicago) and
sister, Mitsuko(Japan) sister Kimi (Japan), and son-in-law, John Oakes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24 at Ogden Buddhist Church, 155 North Street in Ogden at 11 A.M.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 23 at Lindquist Morturary at 6-8 P.M., also one hour prior to services
on Friday.
