Hello All,

As most of you know, Gene Mauro, age 67, passed away this past Wednesday, August
17, 2005, after a short illness. Gene, a shichidan, was the US National Open
Division Champion in 1967. In addition, he was a member of the US World Team
in 1967 for the World Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. He placed third
in the US National Open Division in the 1970 Senior Nationals. At the time
of his demise, he was head instructor for San Diego Judo.

He served in many roles in his many years of judo, including area vice-president
for California Judo, Inc. At the 2005 USJF Junior Nationals in Irvine, California,
he served as one of the announcers for this tournament.

His wife, Gail, survives him. They were married for forty-five years.

Viewing will be held Monday, August 22, 2005 from 4-8 PM at Greenwood Memorial
Park and Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego. Direction can be found at

The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 23. 2005 at 10 AM at Greenwood.
