Judo Biography
Eric is a sixth degree USJF black belt (Rokudan). He is currently certified as a self Defense Trainer and Master Level Instructor by USJF as well as a Continental Coach with USA Judo and is a Life Member of both organizations. Eric is currently serving as a USJF endowment trustee, and member of the investment committee, and is assisting in revising the promotional requirements. He has previously served as Vice President of Shufu Yudanshakai, a member of the Board of Examiners and Promotion Board as well as other committees of USJF.

Eric started judo at age 16 in Fort Wayne, IN. Two months into his training he placed in his first regional shiai. In high school, he was a member of the Fort Wayne School of Judo Competition Team. At college Eric was a Member of the Indiana University Judo Varsity Team, Vice President of the judo club and earned an athletic letter in judo from this big ten university. In 1982, as a member of the Washington Judo Club, he received his first black belt under Jimmy Takemori. As a black belt Eric has trained at Washington Judo Club, Georgetown Judo Club, and Baltimore Judo Club, has been Assistant Instructor at NIH Judo Club, PG Judo Club, College Park Judo Club, Pure Performance Judo and Chief Instructor of Montgomery College Judo Club. He is a past East Coast, Maryland and Indiana State Champion in shiai, Maryland Katame-no-kata champion and a national competitor in both the senior and masters divisions. Eric was the tournament director for The Capital Games for a decade, and the president of Maryland Judo Inc. for a decade and a half, as well as a national referee. Eric has received several awards for contributions; most recently from Kyungmin High School (Seoul Korea) Principal Seong Cheol Hong for his efforts in sending young USJF judoka to Korea.

Eric earned his MBA from the American University, and is a serial entrepreneur and investor. He retired as a VP of Professional Services leading a group of Commercial Real Estate Asset Managers, and has worked in private, institutional, and public capacities on a national scope, and evaluated more than four billion dollars in real estate assets over his career. He holds several professional designations including MAI (Appraisal Institute) and MRICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and has been certified in U.S. Federal Court as a Commercial Real Estate Expert.
